Have you thought about packing up your life and heading off in a caravan? Many have done just that and are loving life on the road. We asked some of our Marvel travellers what they love about travelling with kids and what family life is like for them on the road.
Taking a year off to roadtrip around Australia as a family takes a lot of courage and planning. Now that we are on the road and seeing amazing sights on our travels we can say it is hands down the best decision we have made for our family.
We get to really slow our lives down and spend quality time together, and we are all learning so much about our country!
The moments we share now will become fond memories that we will reminisce about for many years to come.
After living in remote Arnhem Land for the last 10 years, our family was used to constant adventure and change. We were ready for a new adventure exploring more of what Australia has to offer. We bought our caravan and lived in it from August 2021 while fine-tuning everything before officially starting travel in December that year.
Raising our two children through exposure to this country from destinations to experiences has been very high in our priorities as parents. We both understand that time is priceless and opportunities aren’t always there so it’s important to us to say yes to adventures as much as possible.
In our working lives we’ve both been involved in the traditional education system over the past 10 years. We have the home (van!) schooling side covered with the added bonus of real life experiences our children gain every day.
For us, the best part of traveling as a family is the adventures we have together. We love living life on our own terms and exposing our kids to experiences and lifestyles outside the norm. The freedom of exploring different destinations is invaluable and is hopefully cherished by our children in years to come, as we as parents cherish it now.

Things we love about travelling:
Exploring new places as a family and creating life memories.
Every day is a new adventure and there is no set schedule or time that we have to stick to.
Spending quality time as a family in the outdoors.
Meeting and making new friends where ever we go.
The adventures and exploring are limitless, make your own decisions and journey to what suits us all and where we want to see.
Camping in comfort and luxury no matter the destination
Free or cheap off grid camping is our favourite as the locations generally have million dollar views, they are more private without being jammed into a packed caravan park. We only go to caravan parks when we need to top up on water and supplies.
